Offered for sale are two 19th century English lustre ware dishes. The first is a commemorative dish featuring a vignette of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The vignette was based on a stipple engraving by Samuel Bradshaw after Frank Topham, entitled 'Her most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria and His Royal Highness Prince Albert Married Feby 10th 1840', a copy of which is in the National Portrait Gallery, no. D20923. The second is most probably Sunderland Lustre ware, hard-paste porcelain and features polychrome transfer printed image of Charity. Sunderland lustre is a type of pottery produced mainly in the early 19th century in several potteries around Sunderland. Many items are not marked and are hard to distinguish from similar wares made in the Staffordshire potteries as well as in Newcastle & North Shields, so to some extent the term Sunderland denotes a style rather than the specific place of origin. Unless otherwise stated on item description Free delivery included to UK Mainland & Ni. Eu Delivery £20. USA & Worldwide Delivery £35.
