This item is a pair of mantle cats, crafted in the Imari style during the Meiji period, approximately between 1868 and 1912. The cats are made of porcelain and feature traditional Imari patterns, characterised by vibrant colours and intricate designs. Each figure stands at a similar height, suitable for display on a mantle or shelf. The pieces reflect the craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of the Meiji era.
The backstamps are faded and worn but appear to be Ming Zhi - 明志 - Akira Kokorozashi Meiji period 1868-1912
