Offered for sale is this lovely crown Devon, Fielding’s, English porcelain Rouge Lusterine, two handled vase, pattern number 5033.
Manufactured circa 1930-1950, mid-century period, possibly a bit earlier.
It is decorated in a deep burgundy red with butterfly scenes, flowing flowers with a gilded border and edging.
Crown Devon launched it's Lusterine range in 1917 and the Rural and Sylvan ranges were introduced in 1924 at the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley. These two patterns generated considerable interest and had hand-painted butterflies applied to a rich maroon ground (Sylvan) or a blue ground (Rural) relieved by a network of gilding. There is a gold back stamp to the base which reads, Crown Devon, Fieldings, Made in England.
Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or signs of restoration. A little light age related crazing to the base.
