Offered for sale are three figures depicting military men from the Napoleonic era. One is labelled "Officer Des Chasseurs" a chasseur was the name for a soldier equipped and trained for rapid movement, especially in the French army. He's literally "a chaser" I hope he was courageous, otherwise he might have been called a chicken chasseurs. (sorry) The other two are labelled as "Officer Des Hussards" and "Officer Des Hussars". Hussards or Hussars were a class of light cavalry originating in central Europe during the 15th and 16th century. They were formerly the "Hussards De Bercheny" after their nobleman founder, a Hungarian Count of the same name. Their title and distinctive flamboyant dress was adopted into armies Europe wide in late 17th early 18th century.
