"Melissa" 1950's Fan Shaped Powder Compact & Mirror

Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, Melissa, fan shaped engine turned gilt loose powder compact and mirror. The lid of the powder well and surround are also beautifully engine turned, with stylised ostrich feather fans either side of the inner lid, and gorgeous tooling to the inner lid itself. The base of the mirror is stamped "Melissa, made In England." The powder well lid flips up to reveal the pristine, original gauze sifter. The overall effect is a lovely Art Deco "Egyptology" vibe. The reverse is beautifully engine turned with the pleats of the fan. It is unused condition, complete with original gauze sifter, and puff. A lovely item.
