Offered for sale is a hand-made model cottage produced by Lilliput Lane entitled "Victoria Cottage" as part of their English, North Collection. Lilliput Lane studio was founded by David Tate and is situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, in the North of England. Every cottage is handmade and are David's interpretation of the essence of English vernacular architecture.
In the days of Queen Victoria the industrial revolution turned England's agrarian society into a strong trading nation. This created new classes of society, such as Managers or Foremen who climbed through social barriers to become the new "middle classes" bridging the gap between what was previously just peasants or gentry. These people were able to move out of their cramped back to back terraces to small private little houses of their own built using local stone with gardens and room to grow. Such is Victoria Cottage, built in around 1880, well kept, made of strong stone walls and roof. It is typical of these first private houses, often using the styles from other regions as part of their design.
This model comes complete with "deeds" certificate and original box.
