Offered for sale is a copper and brass kettle.
The base is stamped Patent No. 1392848 GB Registered design No. 957386, a design known as ‘The Economic’, manufacturer unknown. A large, round stove top kettle, circa 1970s. The kettle is made from heavy gauge copper with a ridged copper bottom. There is an open gallery at the base with a copper coil element to assist quick boiling. The hardwood insulating handle is fixed on two polished plated brass uprights. The lid has a vent and an insulated knob. The kettle is featured as an article of good design in the Museum of Design in Plastics, a specialist research resource at the Arts University Bournemouth, UK
