Offered for sale is a 1930's Spode Byron Series No1 ridged sandwich plate by Copeland. The Byron Series was based on engravings in a book depicting scenes from the life of the poet Byron. The plate has a scalloped edge, the border decorated wit a grape vine covered trellis. The central scene features two ladies in conversation over a wall. One of the ladies is carrying a basket on each arm filled with poultry which has gained the interest of the other ladies dog. The dominant colours are brown and green with pops of red on a cream background.
Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or signs of restoration.
